BOGA SUPERFOODS is Jeddah’s answer to healthy eating. As well as mine to be truthfully honest, it’s been hard eating healthy post-baby and it only makes it harder when all you want is something to fill you up. I know all the gibberish that comes with healthy eating, macros, vegan, plant-based blah blah. Basically everyone has a take on what is healthy, I’ll settle with simple fresh food that hasn’t been overly processed. That is exactly what BOGA offers, and with the looks of it people are enjoying it. There is always a line out the door when we come (which is often) and the food always seems to satisfy. Read more
It has been a while since we blogged and it was a conscious decision to stop until we thought that continuing would be as authentic as it always is. Personally I decided to stop blogging over the last few months because of personal changes that made it near impossible for me to continue blogging honestly.
We were expecting our first child, here at THEARABMODE , and now having the baby I finally have both the energy and interest to pick up where we left off. As many of you may know, I am an expat and most of my pregnancy was completed outside Saudi Arabia. This is the main reason why I didn’t feel right blogging about life in the Middle East while not being there at the moment.
Happy to say we (I have become baby&me!) are now back in the KSA. Also, the blog will continue to be a guide to help and inform you about life here as it did before. Of course we will be writing the blog with an additional perspective which is motherhood. I hope to share information relating to pregnancy, birthing, and motherhood as best as I can.
Glad to be back
You can find pretty much anything you crave here in Jeddah. Have an urge for Indian or even Thai? Mexican or Turkish? Arabic or Western?, no problem. The biggest scene here in Jeddah has to be the dining scene with restaurant outnumbering any other type of business. If you don’t speak hashtag then this trendy breakfast spot has probably been under your radar. The exclusively breakfast/brunch spot caters to the public here in Jeddah looking for a place to grab a bite to eat in the early morning hours. It is a very trendy spot with a huge instagram following and #hashtags adorning the place. The restaurant is only open between 6:20 am -2pm everyday including Friday! Our recent and first visit to the restaurant was nice, we arrived at around 1pm and scanned the menu quickly. We chose a few different plates including a classic pancake topped with fruit, the Arab trio breakfast platter, a smoked turkey club sandwich and finished it off with a refreshing lemon iced tea and cup of tea. When you have an adorable nephew that lives in New York then your only “forced” to visit. Of course force is a harsh word to use when talking about vacationing in the Big Apple. Anyhow, NYC was more than we could handle for our short stay but had us craving for a comeback.
The city has so much to offer that you need to visit repeatedly, or just move there to really grasp how much the city has to offer. We tried our best to get as much in as possible, really soaking up that “hipster” lifestyle. Waiting in lines for particularly colourful bagels, to ending up in Queens because of lack of direction I can honestly say that New York is not for the faint of heart. Read more
