SEAFOOD SHOPPING IN JEDDAH?

Expat

One of the few traditions that me and the mate have picked up since being together is to always have a home-cooked meal on Friday’s. More times than not, that meal consists of fresh fish. Being in Jeddah (a coastal region) gives us an advantage to get some of the best tasting fresh fish you can find in Saudi.

So, where do we get this fish from? No, neither of us count fishing as a hobby but shopping is definitely one. The place to buy fish is renowned and frequented by expats and locals daily. Found closely tucked away at the top of the Corniche just before hitting AL-BALAD. The market is known as  “SOUQ BENGALA”,  I have no idea why.

Here you will find an assortment of fresh fish sold by the kilo. Everything from tuna, salmon and trout to shrimp and mussels. Another great find is that they offer cleaning services that will descale the fish for you and gut it, prepping it for cooking. Taking care of all the messiness involved while dealing with fresh fish. Lastly, the final bonus to this amazing place is that if you can’t be bothered to go home and cook your fish they will do it for you. Yup shop and eat, all in one place.
